Speaker: Kai Imolauer, Rödl & Partner
Kai has been with Rödl & Partner since 2002 and currently leads the energy industry team specializing in investments in the field of renewable energies while also acting as Project Manager for the GRMF.
The Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) is a program that has been set up by the African Union to support geothermal development in the East Africa region. Rödl & Partner has taken the role of managing the fund for the GRMF, while partner Mannvit has provided technical expertise.
Since 2012, the GRMF has announced numerous funding rounds for geothermal power projects and has recently expanded the facility to include heating and direct-use applications. The GRMF therefore acts as a catalyst in establishing geothermal energy as a strategic option for power generation capacity expansion in 12 partner countries in the East Africa region.
