About the event

Geophysical exploration in non-magmatic convective geothermal systems

Dr. Gemma Mitjanas Colls created a 3D geothermal model of Vallès Basin to define geothermal resources non-magmatic convective system and highlight its applications for local community. The Vallès Basin geothermal system, in the NE of the Iberian Peninsula, presents thermal anomalies in the form of hot springs in Caldes de Montbui (70ºC) and La Garriga (60ºC) towns. Study integrates different geoscientific techniques to characterise a geothermal system controlled by geological structures. Geophysical, geological, petrophysical, and hydrogeological studies have been carried out to characterize the Vallès Basin geothermal system. This webinar will focus on 3D Vallès geothermal model and present the application of magnetotellurics, gravity, passive seismic and electrical resistivity tomography, and such data integration into Leapfrog Geothermal.
