As part of the Australian Geothermal Association's webinar series, we heard from Enead's Wouter Peere as he explores the practicalities of designing geothermal borefields. He highlights the benefits of geothermal heat pump systems, with a focus on the Australian context, explains the key physical principles behind borefield operation, and walks through the different steps of the design process. Whether you're an engineer, designer or driller, you'll come away with the knowledge, resources and tools to start designing efficient geothermal borefields yourself.

Presenter:

Wouter Peere graduated in 2020 as a mechanical engineer at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) with a thesis on the topic of hybrid geothermal design. After a research period of 3 years at this university, in close collaboration with Boydens Engineering, he started his own engineering firm Enead. Since 2023, Enead is the main developer and distributor of GHEtool, a cloud-based borefield sizing tool for both small and complex geothermal systems.

AGA Members have access to a recording of the presentation, the slide deck and Wouter Peere's article written for IEA HPT magazine in the section below.
