World Geothermal Congress: Australia Country Update

Board members of the Australian Geothermal Association were delighted to join peers from around the globe to attend the World Geothermal Congress, held in Canada earlier this year.


This was a unique opportunity to share opportunities and learnings with our international colleagues, and as such, AGA director Graeme Beardsmore delivered Australia's Country Update as part of the technical programme.


The update, covering the period from 2023 to 2025, explores the various aspects of Australia's geothermal use, opportunities and research, noting a modest growth in geothermal uptake thanks to an increase in installed capacity of both direct-use heat operations and ground source heat pumps.
