As part of the Australian Geothermal Association's webinar series, Dr. Mark Elliott from Victorian Geothermal Exploration Company presented an in-depth overview of the Koroit Geothermal Project, an advanced hot-sedimentary-aquifer resource located in the Otway Basin, Victoria. He discusses how innovative technologies adapted from the petroleum industry are revolutionising geothermal development in Australia by reducing costs and enhancing viability. The presentation covers the project's geological characteristics, resource potential, and the strategic use of existing fault systems that potentially eliminate the need for fracking.
Presenter:
Dr Mark Elliott is an economic geologist with over 45 years’ experience in exploration, project development and mining. Twenty-seven years in corporate management roles as chair or managing director of 7 ASX-listed mineral and energy companies covering project acquisitions, ASX-listings, team building, capital raisings, marketing, commercial agreements, feasibility studies and executing exploration and mine development programs.
